Perfect 10

Elle loves bananas. We tease her that she eats them like a monkey...which might explain her "monkey feet" that she can climb just about anything. She is also blond, curly, blue-eyed, tans (rather than freckle or burn like her brothers). She loves to dance, gets in moods where she wants to hug and kiss everybody, is obsessed about her shoes, particular about her clothes. I think I have a girl! She's helpful (she loves to help me empty the dishwasher), kind, clever, loves to make her brothers laugh and she LOVES babies!

She's not just any girl....I'm growing the perfect 10!

I took these pictures this morning. They're not staged. She was just naturally posing with her banana while watching Between the Lions.

Messes for sale!

Last year I started listening to Free Capitalist Radio and learning all about the principles of Capitalism. It was fascinating! I started applying the principles at home and teaching the boys things I was learning. Thus began the Recycling with Ethan saga.

I declared an end to the recycling season with the first rains last year and sent out a letter to the neighbors thanking them for participating. Ethan has been asking me to start recycling in the neighborhood again. I've been putting it off. Ethan has decided to not be a victim to my procrastination.

He has been rather resourceful and has come up with plenty of other ideas in which he can create value and make some money. We drove by some kids in front of their house selling lemonade. He was fascinated with the idea and started mixing his own lemonade first by pouring lemon juice into the sugar and then sugar into straight lemon juice. I helped him dilute the second batch, but he insisted on setting up a lemonade stand in the living room using every glass in the cupboard. You could tell where he had walked carrying his product because the floors were sticky and made noise as your shoes lifted out of the stick.

This morning Ethan set up another food vending venture. He came into the bathroom and proudly announced to Michael and I that he was open for business selling real food and he expected real money. I went into the living room to find a fort (his store front) built out the trampoline, bins and blankets and the opened shredded wheat bag inside his store. Hunter decided to be his competition and poured out several piles of shreded wheat directly onto the carpet. Elle, the only customer in sight seemed to prefer the easy access of Hunter's store.

I let the children finish eating the pile of shredded wheat off the floor but confiscated the opened bag that Ethan was stocking his store with.

Undaunted, Ethan made a sign with the numbers 10 20 and displayed it in front of his still standing fort. He said that the numbers were how much it cost to go in his fort. He went through the rationalization of Hunter's financial capacity and then told me that I had to give Hunter money for the entry fee since he didn't have any. $10.20 seemed rather steep to me so I gave Hunter 10 pennies, which was satisfactory for Ethan to let Hunter in. As a gesture of good will Ethan announced that babies did not have to pay the entry fee and gave Elle free access to his fort.

Since Ethan was in the mood for lessons in Capitalism I thought we'd continue his game. I called the boys for breakfast and gave Ethan his menu and the prices for each item. A bowl of cereal is 5 pennies. Milk is 2 pennies. A vitamin is 1 penny.

Ethan paid the 5 cents for his cereal and the one for his vitamin. He was torn over splurging for milk, though. He finally relented and paid the extra 2 cents for milk. What struck me about the whole thing is that he showed enormous respect and manners at breakfast. He answered my questions about his "order" by using ma'am and was extremely polite when he asked for a napkin. He didn't finish his cereal, but I didn't feel compelled to make him eat all of it either since he paid for it.

Huh.

Drunk Driver

We were coming home when Michael pointed out a black car ahead of us swerving all over the road. "We've got a drunk". We've come across drunks before and called their license plate in, but experience has taught me that highway vehicles that are called in are too hard for CHP to find and arrest.

He was like a moth to a flame...following closely behind the car ahead. When he was in a lane he would drift across lanes and then correct, drift onto the shoulder and back again. He was all over the road. He'd make unsignaled lane changes weaving around cars. I've seen people do this before, but never drunk. The drunks I've come across usually are going a bit slower and exercising caution. I said to Michael, "He's going to kill somebody".

We got close to get a license plate, but it must have been a new car because he had the dealer paper plates still on.

As we approached our exit to take care of mom's new dog Dixie, Michael noticed that our drunk exited right in front of us. He turned right, crossed the double yellow line and went into oncoming traffic. Fortunately there were no cars coming from the other direction. We followed him as he pulled into the Shell station. We watched as he then sat at pump #1 for at least 3 minutes before getting out. That gave Michael enough time to call the PD with a description of both the vehicle and the driver. The man went into the store and we waited.

One officer arrived before the man came out. When the man came out the officer pulled up behind his car and approached him. Another officer arrived and the second officer started doing sobriety tests. Unfortunately he was behind the pump so I couldn't see what was going on. Then the man walked out to where I could see him, fulfilling the officers request to walk a straight line. He was hard pressed to comply. Actually seeing him walk was rather frightening considering he had just been behind the wheel.

The first officer got a brethalizer kit out of his car. It seemed weird that he kept blowing into it and they kept asking him to do it again and again. Michael could tell that he was playing games by not putting his mouth around it or not really blowing. There was a red light on the machine that glowed when he blew and went up a few bars on one blow in particular, but I couldn't really tell what to look for.

The officers had him turn around and cuffed him up and then put him in the back of the police car. I felt really glad and relieved he was off the road!

The second officer came over to talk to us and told us that this was not the first time he'd been caught driving drunk. OH REALLY!!!

Maybe the judge will wise up and suspend his license.

Flouride: for the sake of children's teeth?

Since I got my adult teeth they have looked marbled. I've always taken good care of them, brushing after meals, seeing the dentist regularly....but my teeth looked yellow in spots. It was embarrassing. I stumbled across some information on fluoride that peaked my interest and so I did some digging.I It turns have a mild case of fluorosis which has discolored my teeth and made them look modeled. At least now I know now what it's called and why I my teeth look the way they do. I've stopped using fluoride toothpaste, thrown it all away and started using baking soda for myself and the children.

The following are bits and pieces that I found regarding fluoride.

Dental fluorosis is an irreversible condition caused by excessive ingestion of fluoride during the tooth forming years. It is the first visible sign that a child has been overexposed to fluoride.

Fluoride causes dental fluorosis by damaging the enamel-forming cells, called ameloblasts. The damage to these cells results in a mineralization disorder of the teeth, whereby the porosity of the sub-surface enamel is increased.

Subject: depressing fluorosis

My name is Jennifer and I have severe dental fluorosis. I am now 20 and have had this since I was very young. This has really affected my life to the fullest extent. In elementary, middle, and high school, I was teased really bad by the other kids. People did not understand what I was talking about when I tried to explain, they thought I just did not brush my teeth. I can't smile or even look people in the eye when I talk to them. It is completely devastating. Thank God I am finally getting it fixed. I am going in one month for a Composite Bonding. I wish more people knew how exactly this affects children. Especially when they grow older, everyone would like a nice smile, but this makes it so much worse, especially since it is permanent. To everyone else that has it, remember you are not the only ones!

It was in the year 1939 that a famous institute in the eastern part of the United States commissioned their biochemist to find a use for the sodium fluoride wastes produced by aluminum foundries. Some 45 other industries also had fluoride disposal problems. Many were tormented by expensive damage suits arising from the noxious effects of the poison on livestock and crops. Oil refineries, metal smelters, tile, brick, steel, fertilizer and ceramic plants and many installations of the Atomic Energy Commission were involved. The cost to eliminate this chemical was fantastically high. Was there no way this byproduct could be put to a profitable use?
Now this biochemist was a clever and cunning man. He came up with a big moneymaking idea: why not dissolve the stuff in drinking water? He had absolutely no medical background and had not conducted any clinical research into the effects of sodium fluoride on our body's chemistry. His idea went over big with companies who were burdened by what to do with sodium fluoride wastes.

The next step was not difficult . . . turn the idea over to the advertising companies and let them tell the public that the greatest health measure in modern times had been discovered. So they used the premise that sodium fluoride in drinking water would prevent tooth decay in children, as they found a Texas town that had naturally occurring fluoride and, it seemed, fewer dental cavities. The public was eager to hear more. At last, a way to prevent tooth decay! Most became convinced despite the fact that tooth decay comes from poor nutrition and especially the high consumption of refined sugar drinks, candy and products.

OFFICE OF WATER

Leslie A.Russell, D.M.D.

363 Walnut Street
Newtonville, Mass. 02160

Dear Dr Russell:

Thank you for you letter of March 9, 1983, in regard to the flouridation of drinking water.

The information available to the Environmental Protection Agency is that flouridation is a safe and effective means for reducing the occurrence of dental caries. The flouridation process has been endorsed by several Presidents of the United States and by several Surgeons General, including the current Surgeon General, Dr C. Everett Koop. A copy of Dr Koop's statement on flouridation is enclosed.

Water treatment chemicals, including fluosilicic acid, have been evaluated for their potential for contributing to the contamination of drinking water. The Water Treatment Chemicals Codex, published by the National Academy of Sciences, prescribes the purity requirement for fluosilicic acid and other flouridation chemicals.

In regard to the use of fluosilicic acid as a source of fluoride for flouridation, this Agency regards such use as an ideal environmental solution to a long-standing problem. By recovering by-product fluosilicic acid from fertiliser manufacturing, water and air pollution are minimized, and water utilities have a low-cost source of fluoride available to them. I hope this information adequately responds to your concern.

Sincerely yours,

Rebecca Hanmer

A Cure for Ovarian Cancer

Two months ago Grandma Bean (83) was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Both of Grandma’s sisters died of ovarian cancer and we are fairly certain that we have a genetic disposition to the disease. Grandma’s cancer was discovered because she was feeling overwhelmingly tired and was sleeping all the time. James and Kristi went to see her and said that she looked just terrible. The color of Grandma’s skin looked faded and gray. The doctor observed that the tumor was very large and was the reason for her belly being so swollen. Blood tests revealed that her CA-125 level was 1400. The doctor gave Grandma a month to live.

Uncle Michael gave my mom the book, “The cancer cure that worked”. It is a story about a man named Royal Rife and his life’s work. Mom started reading it on the airplane flight to Oregon to go take care of Grandma and told me about the parts that she read when she got there. Apparently Royal Rife invented a microscope that could see much smaller than what is normally accepted, even today. Using this microscope Rife was able to see viruses.

It has been widely known within certain circles, but not formally recognized that nurses who have worked in Leukemia wards have themselves died of Leukemia. Such was the case with my mother’s cousin Roberta who was a Leukemia ward nurse. She died nine months after her triplets were born. The pregnancy was such a strain on her system the Leukemia virus finally got a foothold and took her.

It has been generally recognized that a certain cervical cancer is caused by a virus.

With the discovery that cancer is caused by a virus Rife developed the technology to kill the virus using frequency. Much like a wine glass may be shattered if exposed to the correct frequency the viruses were killed when exposed to their corresponding frequencies. Everything has a rate at which it naturally vibrates. When you vibrate something at this natural rate (or frequency) it responds strongly.

I found a video online of parameciums filmed under a microscope while being exposed to the Rife frequency. There were about 15 on the screen all of which were moving around and healthy. Then when exposed to their resonant frequency they began to vibrate and then burst on the edge and spill all of their contents into the fluid they were occupying. I was completely amazed.

Uncle Michael spent about a week finding and programming his Rife machine to the ovarian cancer frequency. Grandma got Rife treatments several times a day and one chemo treatment before the doctor took her CA-125 levels again. They had dropped to 700. I think the doctor was surprised by the extremely positive response, except he doesn’t know that Grandma was getting any other treatment. After the second chemo and continued daily treatments with the Rife machine Grandma’s CA-125 levels dropped to 156. With the treatments, Grandma started feeling better and was able to eat more and got her color back. She didn’t believe that the chemo was doing any good so she told the doctor she wouldn’t do any more chemo treatments unless she had her CA-125 measured again. The doctor, I’m told, was annoyed because he knew the level would be higher since she hadn’t had any chemo treatment since her last lab tests, but agreed to do the tests anyway. The CA-125 level came back at 46. For both my Grandma and my mom that proved that the chemo was not lowering the cancer levels but the Rife machine was.

What is especially interesting is that after the third blood test the doctor said that the levels for colon cancer were rising. He was baffled to explain why the chemo was making the ovarian cancer levels drop so significantly but the colon cancer levels were rising. My mom expressed frustration that the doctor had not told her about the colon cancer. Considering that the doctor originally expected Grandma to live only a month given the advanced state of her ovarian cancer, I’m sure that mentioning that Grandma had an early stage of colon cancer as well would have been pointless.

For us it was an even greater confirmation that the Rife machine was working since it had been programmed to the ovarian cancer frequencies and not colon cancer.

My mom got in contact with a man who has been promoting Royal Rife’s work and there is a newer Rife machine (F-scan) that detects viruses as well. Kind of like a sonar detects fish in a fishing hole. Mom got the newer machine, which would by default address the colon cancer. She told me Grandma has over 50 hits and it takes about 2 hours to go through 2 minutes of treatment for each hit. Not surprisingly, to us anyway, the colon cancer levels started dropping as her treatment with the F-scan continued. My mom said the doctor seemed annoyed with the astounding progress. It seems counter-intuitive, but then she explained to me that each chemo treatment is several thousand dollars. This particular doctor has had cancer patients undergoing chemo for several years... her recovery, despite his chemo, means lost revenue for him.

Mom told me that Laurence Welk came on a few days into the newer treatment and Grandma started doing the jitterbug in the living room. I’d say it was a miraculous change to go from “you have a month to live” to doing the jitterbug in your living room.

Consecration, Sacrifice and Wealth

A wealthy young man came to Jesus and asked: “What good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” Our Lord’s answer was the same as the prophets have given through the ages. It was: “If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”

The next question was: “Which commandments?” Jesus listed them: “Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

Then came this response and question—for the young man was a good man, a faithful man, one who sought righteousness: “All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?” We also might ask, “Isn’t it enough to keep the commandments? Is there more than the law of obedience?”

In the case of this rich young man there was more. He was expected to live the law of consecration, to sacrifice his earthly possessions. Jesus’ answer to him was: “If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”

As you know, the young man went away sorrowful, “for he had great possessions.” (Matt. 19:16–22.). Many people use this instance as scriptural justification as to why having material possessions and wealth is contrary to the heavenly order. But there is another part of the story that is often overlooked.

Using the experience as a teaching opportunity for his disciples, Christ explained:

“And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” (Mat 19: 24)

This statement has served to confirm the assumption that riches are evil and has been the coup de grace to most Christians hopes of being both righteous and materially prosperous. They naturally assume that Christ was referring to the eye of a sewing needle. However, there was a well-known gate in Jerusalem called Needle's Eye. After the main city gates had closed for the night if a traveler arrived to the city after dark they could still gain entrance through the Needle’s Eye which was just big enough to fit a man. It was built so low that a camel could only pass if it entered kneeling and unencumbered with baggage.

A camel is not emotionally attached to their baggage and would make no protest to removing it. The stance of humility, or entering on their knees was also easily achieved since no pride has to be overcome in achieving the position.

A rich man with great wealth and material possessions would have a harder time entering the kingdom of God if his heart were on his riches instead of God. Yes, consecration is required to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, which is to give all to the Lord and withhold nothing.

However, once we have gained entrance into the kingdom Christ concluded his lesson by promising, “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.” (Mat 19: 29)

The erroneous assumption of many Christians is that Heavenly Father requires sacrifice because He expects His righteous to go without certain things, or to exist in a state of deprivation. The exact opposite is true. When His children are righteous Heavenly Father blesses them with riches and prosperity. The scriptures teach, “it is the will of the Father to give [riches] unto you.” However, the scripture concludes with a warning, “but beware of pride, lest ye become as the Nephites of old.” (D&C 38:39) The problem arises when those blessed stop looking to their benefactor and instead focus on the blessings they have received, “Ye have set your hearts upon [your riches], and have not hearkened unto the words of Him who gave them unto you.” (Hel 13:21) God uses the law of sacrifice as a tool in order to keep our minds and hearts on Him.

Another oft quoted scripture in Matthew says: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matt 6:24) Mammon is defined as riches or wealth. In other words, Ye cannot serve Heavenly Father and money. One is the true and living God, the other… just one of many inanimate objects used as the focus of idolatry.

On mount Sinai the Lord addressed this issue by issuing as the first of the ten commandments, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them” (Exod 20:3,5)

This commandment applies to anything that would take our hearts away from the true and living God. Idol worship comes in many forms. People will worship, money, cars, houses, boats, or jewelry. The idol doesn’t even have to be an object. Sports, hobbies, and even the airwaves viewed on television have taken precedence in some people’s lives. It is not to say that having or doing any of these things is inherently wrong. No thing can be bad. Things are tools. How a person uses them is where the sin or righteousness is determined. A hammer can be used to build a house or smash a finger. The difference is in the utilization of the person holding it. Money is no different. Money is a tool. How a person uses and views money in their lives will determine if they are a good steward or an unrighteous idolater. “He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.” (Proverbs 11: 28)

God requires sacrifice and consecration as a demonstration that our hearts and minds are on Him and not the blessings He desires to pour out in our lives. The Lord Himself has proclaimed, “the rich have I made, and all flesh is mine, and I am no respecter of persons.” (D&C 38:16) God is the author of prosperity, not the author of poverty and want. He will bless all of His children equally with prosperity and wealth, as each are obedient to the commandments upon which those blessings are predicated.

Covered next time: True wealth determined by wisdom and knowledge. Sharing wealth with others. Blessing the poor temporally. Production vs. idleness.
